Apple launches campaign to migrate Mac users from Chrome to Safari
Apple has launched a new marketing campaign, including a dedicated “Switch to Safari” section on its website and promotional videos on YouTube, aimed at Mac users currently utilizing Google Chrome.
The campaign highlights four primary advantages of Safari over Chrome. First, Apple claims Safari can extend MacBook battery life by up to five hours when watching videos. Second, the company asserts that Safari loads frequently visited websites up to 35 percent faster than Chrome.
Third, Apple emphasizes user privacy, stating that Chrome allows third-party trackers to collect more data for advertisers, whereas Safari utilizes Intelligent Tracking Prevention. Finally, the campaign promotes the “Distraction Control” feature, which allows users to hide distracting website elements, a preference Safari saves unlike Chrome.
To facilitate the transition, Apple notes that users can easily import bookmarks and saved passwords from Chrome to Safari. The company also highlights seamless integration with other Apple services and the functionality of Google services like Docs and Sheets within the Safari browser.
