Apple launches final iBook G4 laptop, ending PowerPC era

On 26 July 2005 Apple introduced the iBook G4, the last notebook to carry the iBook name and the final consumer laptop using a PowerPC processor. The white model added a two‑finger scrolling trackpad, a Sudden Motion sensor to protect the hard‑drive, Bluetooth 2.0 and upgraded internals – a faster CPU, 512 MB of RAM, 10 GB of storage and improved graphics.

The iBook G4 marks a transitional point for Apple, bridging its colorful early‑2000s design language with the slimmer, Intel‑based MacBooks that would follow later that year.
