Apple launches iOS 27 with AI‑enhanced Siri at WWDC

Apple will unveil iOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2026. The update places generative artificial intelligence at the core of the operating system, most prominently through a revamped Siri that runs on Google’s Gemini models. Apple says the Gemini models are hosted on its own servers, with some functions executing entirely on‑device to preserve privacy.

iOS 27 also brings performance and stability improvements, bug fixes, and refinements to the Liquid Glass design introduced in iOS 26. New interaction options let users summon Siri by voice, a hardware button, or a swipe from the top edge. Siri gains a dedicated chatbot‑style app and can handle multi‑step commands, context‑aware scheduling, and integration with third‑party AI services such as Claude or ChatGPT.

Additional features include a health‑app enhancement that uses the iPhone camera to scan nutrition labels and automatically log calories, fats, proteins and carbs. The update also extends these AI capabilities across iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.
