Apple launches iOS 27 with enhanced Maps, Wallet and Find My features

Apple announced iOS 27, the latest version of its mobile operating system, alongside iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. The update, now in developer beta, keeps devices that supported iOS 26 compatible, ranging from older iPhone 11 models to the newest iPhone 15 series. Key service upgrades include Apple Maps, which adds an improved Flyover view and a new "Local Lists" feature that surfaces trending places in the United States and Canada, complementing the company’s recent rollout of paid map advertising.

Find My on Apple Watch is consolidated into a single, map‑centric app that merges device, item and people tracking, and extends Precision Finding to AirTag 2nd‑generation and AirPods Pro 3. iOS 27 also introduces customizable location‑sharing durations and a pause option for selective contacts. Apple Wallet gains a bill‑splitting capability that links directly to iPhone transactions. Additional improvements cover faster app launches, an 80% boost to AirDrop speeds, a new liquid‑glass interface design, and a smarter Siri with conversation history and visual intelligence. Public betas are slated for release next month, with a full rollout expected in the fall.
