Apple launches iOS 27 public beta with Siri AI, new CarPlay features and macOS 27 Golden Gate updates
Apple has released the public beta of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate and watchOS 27, making the new software available to any user enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program. The beta introduces Siri AI, an upgraded voice assistant that can read screen content, access personal data and answer complex queries, and a refreshed “Liquid Glass” visual style that adds more transparency and customisation to the UI.
Key platform enhancements include CarPlay upgrades such as a persistent “Now Playing” mini‑player, an audio scrubber for easier skipping, new wallpaper options and improved GPS accuracy and wireless reliability. macOS 27 removes support for the legacy Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) and ends compatibility with Intel‑based Macs, requiring Apple Silicon hardware. watchOS 27 adds a dynamic app grid, enhanced Liquid Glass controls and Siri AI for the wrist.
Apple warns that the beta may contain bugs, app incompatibilities and higher battery use, recommending installation on a secondary device and a full backup before upgrading. Several guides explain how to downgrade from iOS 27 to iOS 26 without data loss, and detail new Photo app AI tools such as Clean Up, Expand and Reframe. The update is expected to graduate to a final public release in September‑October 2026.
