Apple's WebKit team has added a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to the Safari browser. The feature, included in Safari Technology Preview 247 for macOS, lets AI agents connect directly to a live Safari window and access the DOM, network requests, screenshots and console output. Developers can use this to automate debugging, performance analysis, accessibility testing and compatibility checks, while SEOs can employ it to investigate Core Web Vitals issues specific to Safari.

The MCP server follows the open MCP standard introduced by Anthropic and is already supported by several AI coding systems such as Claude and Codex. By allowing agents to explore the browser environment without detailed prompts, Apple aims to speed up web‑app testing and reduce manual troubleshooting for sites that rely on Safari’s roughly 30 % market share in the United States.
