Apple MacBook Air outperforms Microsoft Surface Laptop in speed tests

MacBook Air Surface Laptop performance benchmark Microsoft Word Adobe Premiere

A recent benchmark by the YouTube channel PhoneBuff found that the latest Apple MacBook Air opens a 500‑page Microsoft Word document in 7 seconds, nearly twice as fast as Microsoft’s own Surface Laptop 8, which takes 12 seconds. The MacBook Air also unzipped a 6 GB archive in under 10 seconds, compared with 42 seconds on the Surface Laptop, and completed an Adobe Premiere Pro export in 1 minute 46 seconds versus 3 minutes 19 seconds on the Surface model. In addition to speed, the MacBook Air is priced about £150 lower in the UK, starting at £1,299 versus £1,449 for the Surface Laptop.
