Apple MacBook Neo drives competition in Windows PC market

The launch of Apple’s MacBook Neo is exerting significant pressure on the broader PC ecosystem, prompting competitors to adjust their hardware and software strategies. According to an IDC report, the MacBook Neo is driving manufacturers toward a combination of new chipsets, more efficient operating systems, and aggressive promotional pricing.

In response to this competition, Lenovo is reportedly preparing the IdeaPad Vibe, a colorful Windows 11 notebook designed to compete on price. The device is expected to feature various color options, a lightweight design, and hardware powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon or AMD processors. It is anticipated to include features such as a camera privacy shutter and multiple connectivity ports, including USB-C and HDMI.

Microsoft is also addressing performance concerns by focusing on Windows 11 optimization. To combat criticisms regarding system efficiency and rising RAM costs, Microsoft aims to reduce the memory footprint of Windows 11 on devices with 8GB of RAM by the end of 2026. This move follows reports that Windows-based laptops sometimes experience slower application launch speeds compared to MacBooks.
