Apple MacBook Neo gains popularity with new parental safety tools

Apple's budget-friendly MacBook Neo is gaining popularity among parents and K-12 school districts as an alternative to Chromebooks and Windows PCs. Following the launch of MacOS 26 in September, Apple has introduced upgraded child safety tools and parental controls.

To manage a child's device, users can set up Apple Child Accounts through the Family Sharing feature in System Settings. These accounts are mandatory for children under 13 and available for those up to age 18. Additionally, the ‘Ask to Buy’ feature allows parents to receive requests for permission before a child downloads or purchases an app.
