Apple MagSafe 25W sale and 50W Qi wireless charging standard push

Apple has reduced the price of its official MagSafe 25 W wireless charger in France to €39, a 20 % discount from the regular €49 price. The charger can deliver up to 25 W of power but only to iPhone models that support that level, and it requires a USB‑C power adapter of at least 30 W to reach the maximum speed.

Separately, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is developing a new Qi specification that will allow up to 50 W of wireless charging. A meeting in Beijing involving Apple, Google, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and other manufacturers outlined the technical details, with a target launch in 2028. The higher‑power standard would double the current 25 W limit, improve magnetic alignment for better efficiency, and aim to reduce reliance on proprietary fast‑charging solutions that some Android makers already use.

Both developments signal a move toward faster, more universal wireless charging for smartphones, though the 50 W Qi standard will not be available for several years.
