Apple marks anniversary of Scott Forstall's departure

Fourteen years ago, Apple announced that Scott Forstall, the senior vice president of iOS software, would be leaving the company. His departure followed the controversial launch of Apple Maps, which faced significant criticism for inaccurate data and poor performance.

Forstall's exit served as a major cultural turning point for Apple under CEO Tim Cook. Following his departure, leadership responsibilities were redistributed among several executives: Craig Federighi took over iOS software, Jony Ive assumed leadership of the Human Interface team, Eddy Cue took control of Maps and Siri, and Bob Mansfield returned to lead a new technology group.
