Apple potentially developing two game controllers according to macOS code

Code discovered in a release candidate version of macOS 26.7 suggests that Apple may be developing two distinct first-party game controllers. The hardware is identified by the internal codes “T6502” and “T1057”.

Both models appear to follow a standard gaming layout, including ABXY buttons, dual clickable thumbsticks, shoulder buttons, analog triggers, and Home and Menu buttons. However, the two devices target different functionality tiers. The T6502 is described as a more basic, wired-only USB model that lacks motion sensors but features a four-channel haptic system. The T1057 is a higher-end model supporting both USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and includes an accelerometer and gyroscope for motion-based gaming.

While the presence of these profiles in the macOS code indicates real hardware development, the references were removed in a subsequent release candidate (RC2). This has led to speculation that the devices could be official consumer products or merely internal testing hardware used to verify OS compatibility and haptic feedback algorithms.
