Xiaomi unveils Xring O3 3nm chip to rival Qualcomm and MediaTek
Xiaomi has announced a new family of in-house semiconductors designed to reduce its reliance on external suppliers like Qualcomm and MediaTek. The lineup includes the Xring O3 flagship SoC, the Xring O100 AI accelerator, and the Xring D100 for autonomous driving applications.
The Xring O3 is a 3nm chip manufactured by TSMC, featuring a 10-core CPU architecture and a 16-core Mali-G2 Ultra NX GPU. It is the first mobile processor to support LPDDR6 memory, offering a bandwidth of 113.8 GB/s. In AnTuTu V11 benchmarks, the chip reportedly scored over 5.2 million points, making it one of the highest-performing mobile processors currently available. The chip also features a redesigned NPU capable of 200 TOPS of tensor performance.
The new hardware is expected to debut in China this September, specifically in the Xiaomi 18 Fold and the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max.
Separately, Xiaomi has announced price increases for several smartphone and tablet models in Japan, with some increases reaching approximately 25%, driven by rising costs for memory and other components.
