Apple Music adds AI search, social playlists and AutoMix in iOS 27 rollout

Apple announced a suite of upgrades to Apple Music that will arrive with iOS 27 later this year. The update introduces a "Friends" playlist that curates tracks your friends are listening to, a new AI‑driven natural‑language search, and smarter recommendation engines that learn your tastes over time.

Playback will feature an enhanced AutoMix with smoother transitions, while new tools such as live lyric translation, pronunciation guides, and playlist folders aim to help global listeners organize and enjoy music across languages. The features will be extended to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and HomePod, and the artist page UI will receive visual updates. Apple reported that 2025 was its strongest year for Apple Music listeners and quarterly revenue.
