Apple Music audio quality settings and lossless features

Apple Music offers high-quality audio options, including Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless streaming, but these features are not enabled by default due to high data consumption.

The service provides two primary lossless tiers: standard Lossless at 24-bit/48kHz, which is suitable for most Bluetooth headphones and consumer earbuds, and Hi-Res Lossless at 24-bit/192kHz. The latter requires dedicated hi-fi equipment and an external DAC to reach its full potential.

Users can adjust these settings on various platforms, including iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows. On iOS devices, settings are managed via the Music section within the Apps menu in the Settings app, where users can manually select resolutions for Wi-Fi, cellular data, or offline downloads.
