Apple overhauls EU App Store fees as Sage acquires Bangert

Apple has announced a major overhaul of its fee structure in the European Union to resolve long-standing regulatory disputes. Starting October 1, the company will replace its Core Technology Fee with a 5% Core Technology Commission on digital transactions involving apps distributed via alternative marketplaces or directly from the web. Additionally, Apple is eliminating its Initial Acquisition Fee and Store Services Fee to create a unified set of business terms for EU developers.

Under the new system, commissions for apps using Apple’s In-App Purchase system will be 26%, while qualifying developers and auto-renewing subscriptions after the first year will pay 15%. Alternative payment processing will incur a 20% commission (10% for qualifying developers), and web-based purchases made within seven days of a link tap will face a 15% commission (10% for qualifying developers).

In separate business news, Sage has acquired Bangert to enhance onboarding and implementation for Sage Intacct Construction customers. The acquisition integrates Bangert’s construction ERP expertise and its AI-powered support platform, AskRichard, into Sage’s ecosystem. The deal aims to streamline deployment and maximize software investment for construction industry clients.
