Apple patents audio and haptic indicators for smart glasses privacy

A newly revealed patent, titled ‘Secure Audio Indicators For Electronic Devices’, suggests using sound or haptic feedback instead of a traditional LED light to signal when a device is recording.

The patent notes that small devices may have limited space, making a visible indicator impractical or easily obscured. Instead, the user would hear a specific tone or feel a subtle tap when recording begins. This approach also aims to improve accessibility for visually impaired users. Additionally, the patent focuses on device security to prevent malware from hijacking the camera or providing false signals to the user.
