Apple Pay launches in the Philippines with four banks

Apple Pay is now available in the Philippines, allowing iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac users to make contactless payments by adding eligible debit or credit cards to the Wallet app. The service launched with four local banks – UnionBank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank and China Bank – and early users have reported successful purchases at retailers such as Starbucks and 7‑Eleven.

Payments are secured with a device‑specific account number and must be authenticated via Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode. Apple Pay can be used in stores, within apps and on websites that accept the service. GoTyme Bank’s CEO Nate Clarke said the rollout “gives our customers an easy and secure way to pay wherever they shop.” The launch expands Apple’s mobile‑payment ecosystem across Southeast Asia.
