Apple developing AI-powered home security service for 2027

Apple is reportedly developing a new AI-driven home security and monitoring service, targeted for a 2027 release. According to reports from Bloomberg, the company aims to differentiate itself through a privacy-centric approach. Instead of continuous video recording, the proposed system would use artificial intelligence to analyze the environment and detect movement, potentially utilizing facial recognition and infrared sensors to identify specific individuals.

This security initiative is part of a broader smart home expansion. Apple is expected to release several new hardware products, including an updated Apple TV 4K, a refreshed HomePod mini with upgraded internal chips, and a new smart home hub, potentially referred to as ‘HomePad’. The HomePad is expected to feature a small screen and support facial recognition and FaceTime.

The integration of advanced AI, such as a revamped Siri, is expected to drive these hardware updates. New devices may feature more powerful processors to allow for local AI processing, enhancing both speed and data privacy. This ecosystem would likely complement existing features like HomeKit Secure Video and iCloud+ services.
