Apple readies iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max with A20 Pro chip, LTPO+ display and higher prices
Apple is set to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026. Leaks indicate the devices will be powered by a new A20 Pro processor built on TSMC’s first‑generation 2 nm process, promising faster performance and better energy efficiency. The camera system is expected to feature a physically variable aperture, a change described as “the most important camera upgrade in years.”
The display will move to an LTPO+ OLED panel that offers finer control of current to reduce flicker and improve power use, while the Dynamic Island cut‑out is rumored to shrink by about 35 %, increasing the screen‑to‑body ratio. Battery capacity is also slated to grow, with the Pro Max model using a 5,567 mAh cell – the largest ever in an iPhone.
Industry sources say Apple may raise retail prices by $200‑$300 compared with the previous generation. To soften the impact, Apple is developing an “Apple Upgrade” financing service that lets customers lease or pay for iPhones, Macs and Watches in installments. Foxconn, Apple’s main assembler, has entered a hiring surge to staff mass‑production lines for the Pro models.
Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro series combines incremental hardware advances with a new pricing and financing strategy ahead of its September debut.
