Apple releases iOS 27.2 beta 4 with major software updates

Apple has released the fourth developer beta for iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2. This release cycle is notable because Apple has skipped iOS 27.1 for most users, as that version is reportedly reserved for the upcoming iPhone Duo foldable device.

Key changes in this beta include a visual overhaul of Apple Music, which has transitioned from its signature red branding to a monochrome black-and-white icon and interface. Additionally, Siri AI support has expanded to include French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Notably, the highly anticipated redesign of the Health app, which featured new metrics like ‘Health Age’ and ‘Longevity,’ has been temporarily removed from this build. Apple indicates that these new features are still planned for release later this year, likely in iOS 27.3. Users are advised that previously entered health data will not be lost during this transition. The update also includes firmware beta 9.1 for several AirPods models and various improvements to the Photos app and Apple TV profiles.
