Apple plans redesigned 2027 MacBook Pro with AI‑focused M7 chip and touchscreen

Apple is preparing a major refresh of its entry‑level MacBook Pro for early 2027. The 14‑inch model will adopt the same chassis language as the upcoming high‑end “MacBook Ultra” series, featuring a slimmer body, OLED display, touchscreen capability and a Dynamic Island interface replacing the traditional notch.

The redesign will be powered by a new M7 processor, scheduled for the first half of 2027. The M7 is built on a 2‑nm process and is optimized for on‑device artificial‑intelligence workloads, with a claimed memory bandwidth of 240 GB/s. Apple is expected to skip the M6 Pro/Max variants, moving directly from the current M6‑based entry model (expected in late 2026 with the existing design) to the M7‑powered redesign.

Alongside the MacBook Pro, Apple plans to launch updated iPad Pro models in spring 2027 that will also use the M7 chip and incorporate advanced cooling solutions. Prices for the refreshed MacBook Pro are projected to start above $2,500, reflecting the new display technology and AI‑focused silicon.

Supply‑chain reports indicate Apple has already secured large component inventories to mitigate global memory shortages, reinforcing its ability to meet the production timeline despite broader industry constraints.
