Meta launches $299 AI‑powered smart glasses under its own brand

Meta announced a new line of AI‑enabled smart glasses, marketed as Meta Glasses, that start at $299 (about €309). The devices are the first to bear the Meta name rather than the Ray‑Ban or Oakley brands, although they are still manufactured with EssilorLuxottica. Three frame styles are offered – Adventurer (rectangular), Fury (bold square) and a slim oval version created with Kylie Jenner. All models feature a 12‑megapixel camera, 3‑K video capture, open‑ear speakers, a multi‑mic array, more than eight hours of battery life and a charging case that adds up to 40 extra hours. They launch with Meta AI powered by the Muse Spark multimodal model, supporting real‑time translation in 14‑20 languages, contextual photo suggestions, live navigation and voice queries. The glasses are sold now in the United States, Canada and Europe and can be ordered online or through authorized retailers. Meta says the low price is intended to broaden adoption as it holds roughly 75 % of the global smart‑glasses market, shipping about 9.6 million units last year, and aims to compete with higher‑priced offerings from Apple and other rivals.
