Apple ramps up vapor chamber orders for upcoming foldable iPhone

Apple has reportedly increased its orders for vapor‑chamber cooling modules, a key component used to dissipate heat in high‑performance smartphones. The surge in demand is linked to preparations for the company’s first foldable iPhone, often referred to as the iPhone Ultra, as well as a special 20th‑anniversary model expected later in the decade.

Leaked information indicates that suppliers are being asked to ready roughly 10 million units of the foldable device, up from an earlier target of 7–8 million, alongside about 70 million units of the forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, all of which are expected to incorporate vapor‑chamber cooling. The technology, first introduced in the iPhone 17 Pro, spreads heat via liquid evaporation and condensation, improving performance during intensive tasks. The increased orders follow reports that Apple has resolved previous hinge‑mechanism and yield issues, clearing the way for higher production volumes ahead of a planned September launch.
