Apple readies iOS 27 bill‑splitting tool and rolls out iOS 26.5.1 fix for iPhone charging issue

Apple is developing a new bill‑splitting feature for the upcoming iOS 27 release. The tool will be integrated into the Wallet and Messages apps, allowing users to photograph a receipt, have the system automatically recognise items and allocate costs to participants, including taxes and tips. The feature will also support payments via Apple Cash and iMessage, with Apple Watch handling approval.

Separately, Apple has issued iOS 26.5.1 to address a charging problem that could prevent certain iPhone 17 and iPhone Air models from recognizing a wired charger when the battery is low. The update is recommended for all affected devices and is available through the Settings app. The same release also includes macOS 26.5.1 fixes for Mac computers using the M5 chip.
