Apple iPhone 18 Pro series faces connectivity issues and production cuts

Apple is addressing a connectivity flaw affecting a limited number of iPhone 18 Pro Max units sold through AT&T in the United States. Affected devices may display an “SOS” status, losing the ability to make calls, send texts, or use mobile data. AT&T has warned that this issue could potentially interfere with 911 emergency calls. Because software updates cannot restore connectivity once the service is lost, Apple has indicated that physical device replacement may be necessary.

Separately, reports indicate that Apple has reduced component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max by 15% to 20% for October. This production adjustment follows rising memory chip costs driven by high demand from AI data centers, which has contributed to higher retail prices for the new models. While some analysts suggest this reflects weaker consumer demand, others note it may represent a strategic shift in production or a reallocation of resources toward the upcoming iPhone Duo foldable device.
