Apple releases HomePod software update 27.2

Apple has released HomePod software update 27.2, introducing several new features across various hardware models. The update includes ‘Sound Glow’, a visual feature that allows the device's display to pulse and change colors in rhythm with music or album art. This feature is available for the HomePod mini, HomePod mini 2, and the second-generation HomePod, though the first-generation HomePod is excluded due to display incompatibilities.

Users can now disable touch controls on the top of the device to prevent accidental or ‘ghost’ touches. Additionally, the update enables HomePods to be used as audio output for Mac computers. For home theater enthusiasts, certain models—specifically the HomePod (2023) and HomePod mini 2—can be combined with the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) to create a four-speaker surround sound configuration.

The update also includes various bug fixes and security updates.
