Apple releases iOS 26.6 update with 75+ security patches and Spotlight optimization

Apple has rolled out iOS 26.6 (and matching iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, visionOS, tvOS and HomePod updates) for all supported devices. The update contains more than 75 security patches that fix 78 individual vulnerabilities and address 87 CVE identifiers. Fixes cover core components such as the kernel, WebKit, ImageIO, the Wi‑Fi stack, MediaRemote and other frameworks, and none of the patched flaws were known to be actively exploited before the release. A major change is the optimisation of the Spotlight search index, which prepares devices for the upcoming iOS 27 and reduces the time needed for the extensive indexing that version will perform. iOS 26.6 also adds a new “Blocked Contacts Limit Reached” notification and includes code for a future anti‑theft feature that is not yet enabled. Siri’s AI‑enhanced features are slated for iOS 27 but will not be available in the European Union at launch. The accompanying tvOS 26.6 update focuses on stability and performance improvements for Apple TV and HomePod. Apple advises users to install the update promptly to benefit from the security fixes and to ensure a smoother transition to iOS 27.
