Apple adds Siri‑powered AI features in iOS 27 beta 2

Apple has released the second developer beta of iOS 27, bringing a suite of new Siri‑focused AI capabilities. A dedicated Siri mode appears in the Camera app, letting users point the iPhone at objects to get instant information, scan receipts, identify food, translate text and trigger actions without leaving the camera interface.

The beta also introduces a “Write with Siri” button that sits above the keyboard in Messages, Notes and Mail, enabling users to start drafting with AI assistance directly. Additional Siri tools include multi‑conversation selection in the standalone Siri app, a visual‑intelligence toggle called “Highlight to Image Search,” and early voice‑customisation settings.

Other updates in the beta span Wallet’s new “Insights” view and a texture option for digital passes, minor tweaks to the Photos, Weather and Home apps, and support for RAW‑image AI editing. Many of the advanced AI features, including the Camera Siri mode, will not be available in the European Union or China pending regulatory approval. Apple expects the final iOS 27 release, together with the iPhone 18 series, later this fall.
