Apple releases iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 betas with Siri AI upgrades
Apple has released new beta versions of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, focusing heavily on the integration of Siri AI and the evolution of its ‘Liquid Glass’ design language. The updated Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence, offers enhanced capabilities such as web searching, personal data access, and the ability to perform actions across different applications. Users on compatible hardware can also customize the pace and expressivity of Siri’s voice.
Visual updates include redesigned icons for core apps like Safari, Settings, and the App Store. The Liquid Glass design now features transparency adjustment sliders to balance aesthetics with readability. Additional AI-driven features include visual intelligence within the Camera app for nutritional information and bill splitting, as well as new AI photo editing tools and writing assistance.
Hardware requirements have emerged as a critical factor for the full feature set. Advanced on-device Siri capabilities, including expressive voices and improved dictation, reportedly require devices with at least 12GB of unified memory. This creates a distinction between high-end models like the iPhone 17 Pro and base models like the standard iPhone 17, which may only support standard Apple Intelligence features.
