Apple releases macOS Golden Gate 27.2 beta with touch-related features

Apple has released the fourth beta of macOS Golden Gate 27.2 to developers. This update includes expanded Siri AI language support and new interface elements such as brightness and volume sliders.

Recent code discoveries in the beta versions suggest Apple is preparing for the launch of a touchscreen MacBook. New touch-related gesture recognition code has been identified in native applications including Safari, Photos, and Notes. Specifically, Safari now supports gesture-based tab dragging and long-press menus. Other observed changes include touch-press gesture recognizers and Dock animations that mimic the long-press behavior found on iPhone and iPad.

These software developments align with reports that Apple is developing high-end MacBook models, potentially codenamed K114 and K116, featuring OLED panels and touch capabilities. While Apple has historically maintained a distinction between iPad and Mac interfaces, the macOS Golden Gate updates appear to optimize the operating system for touch-assisted input.
