Apple HomePad smart display rumored to feature Apple Watch-style interface

Code discovered in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 beta suggests Apple is developing a new smart home display, referred to internally as HomeHub, HomePad, or HomeAccessory. The device is expected to feature a 7-inch square display and may be available in two versions: one with a speaker base and another designed for wall mounting.

The interface appears to be modeled after the Apple Watch, utilizing customizable “Faces” and a “Face Gallery.” It will likely support Smart Stacks, widget galleries, and iPhone widget mirroring via Handoff. To protect privacy in shared spaces, the device is rumored to only display personal information from widgets when a user’s iPhone is detected nearby.

While the device may run a variant of tvOS (internally referred to as “Pebble” or “homeOS”), it is expected to integrate deeply with Siri AI and App Intents. The upcoming Apple hardware cycle is also anticipated to include updates to the Apple Watch, with rumors suggesting a return to ceramic finishes for certain models, and a potential expansion of the home ecosystem including new HomePod mini and security camera products.
