Apple to unveil HomeView smart home hub at October 13 event

Apple is set to host a ‘Welcome home’ event on October 13, 2026, in New York, focusing on its expanding smart home ecosystem. The centerpiece of the announcement is expected to be HomeView, a new smart home hub featuring a 6-inch square touchscreen. The device is rumored to be powered by the A18 chip and will offer both tabletop and wall-mounted configurations.

HomeView is designed to act as a central control point for the home, utilizing facial and voice recognition to provide personalized interfaces for different family members. It will likely run a new operating system, potentially named ‘homeOS,’ and will integrate Siri AI to manage smart devices. Notably, the device is expected to lack an App Store at launch, instead relying on pre-installed Apple applications and the ability to project widgets from nearby iPhones.

In addition to the HomeView hub, Apple is expected to refresh other smart home products, including the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. Reports suggest the new Apple TV 4K may feature an improved remote with a built-in speaker and a host unit with an integrated microphone for better voice control. Apple is also reportedly collaborating with LG to develop a suite of smart home accessories, such as cameras, locks, and thermostats, to create a more cohesive ‘Home Collection.’
