Apple Retail workers in Italy announce national strike

Apple Retail employees in Italy have announced a national strike scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026. The mobilization, which coincides with the launch date of new iPhone models, involves over 1,600 workers across 17 direct Apple Stores.

The strike is being organized by the unions Filcams CGIL, Fisascat CISL, and Uiltucs. Key grievances include staffing organization, the management of fixed-term contracts, and working conditions for part-time staff. Workers are demanding more stable employment, a reduction in temporary contracts, increased staffing levels, and greater flexibility regarding leave and rest periods.

Protests and pickets are expected at several locations, including flagship stores in Rome (Piazza Capranica), Milan (Piazza Liberty), Bologna, and Venice. The unions aim to highlight labor conditions during the high-profile product launch period.
