Apple rolls out iOS 26.5.2 update to thwart AI‑accelerated exploits

Apple has released an iOS 26.5.2 security update, along with a matching macOS version, that patches more than 25 vulnerabilities across WebKit, the kernel and WebRTC. The company says the move is aimed at narrowing the window in which artificial‑intelligence tools can help attackers convert discovered flaws into working exploits. Reuters reported that AI‑driven code generators such as OpenAI Codex and Anthropic Claude were used to identify several of the bugs, though Apple noted no evidence that the vulnerabilities have been exploited in the wild.

The update applies to iPhone 11 and newer models, iPad Air 3+, iPad mini 5+, recent iPad Pro versions and supported Macs. Apple advises users to install the patch promptly via the device settings to protect against potential attacks that could arise from AI‑accelerated exploit development.
