Apple releases iOS 27 with Siri AI and blocks software downgrades

Apple has released iOS 27, introducing significant updates including enhanced Siri AI capabilities and a new design language. The update features expanded language support for Siri, including Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese, though regulatory restrictions currently limit these AI features in the European Union.

Beta testing for iOS 27.2 is already underway, showcasing a redesigned Health app with new tabs for Insights, Longevity, and Browse, as well as profile support for the Apple TV app. Other refinements include new animations for the search bar and customizable application result counts.

Notably, Apple has ceased signing iOS 26.6.2, effectively blocking users who have already upgraded to iOS 27 from performing an official downgrade. This move is intended to improve security by preventing the use of older software versions with known vulnerabilities. Additionally, users cannot downgrade to iOS 26.7 because it was released as an over-the-air update without a manual restore file. Some users have also reported technical issues with tvOS 27, where the update has caused certain Apple TV 4K units to become unresponsive.
