Apple plans iPhone 18 redesign and 1.4nm chip transition

Apple is reportedly preparing a significant redesign for the standard iPhone 18, which is expected to launch in the spring of 2027. Leaked prototype images suggest the device may adopt a horizontal camera module that spans the width of the rear, a design aesthetic previously reserved for Pro models. This shift follows a revised launch strategy where Apple prioritizes high-end models and its first foldable, the iPhone Duo, before releasing the standard lineup.

Technologically, Apple is looking toward a major leap in semiconductor manufacturing. Reports indicate the company plans to secure early capacity for TSMC’s 1.4nm process. This technology is expected to debut in 2028 with the A22 Pro chip, aimed at premium iPhone models. The transition to 1.4nm is intended to enhance on-device AI capabilities, improve power efficiency by up to 30%, and increase performance.

While the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max have already been released, the standard iPhone 18 is rumored to feature the A21 chip, increased RAM, and the C2 modem to improve connectivity and daily responsiveness.
