Apple testing ceramic cases for Apple Watch Series 12
Apple is reportedly testing premium ceramic finishes for the upcoming Apple Watch Series 12. The company has experimented with white and dark gray ceramic options, internally referred to by the code name ‘iceman’. This would mark a return to ceramic materials for the Apple Watch lineup, offering a more luxurious alternative to standard case materials.
In addition to material changes, Apple may enhance its health tracking capabilities. Reports suggest the company is exploring continuous heart-rate monitoring throughout the day, moving away from the current system of interval-based background readings. This approach would align the device more closely with specialized health wearables like Oura and Whoop.
While a major visual redesign is not expected for the immediate upcoming models, more substantial design overhauls may arrive in 2027 or 2028. Details regarding these updates may be revealed during Apple’s upcoming September event.
