CXMT achieves 90% yield on DDR5 chips, surpassing Tencent in value

Chinese memory manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has reportedly achieved a yield rate of over 90% for its 17nm DDR5 memory chips. This technical milestone places the company closer to industry leaders such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron in terms of production efficiency.

CXMT's rapid industrial growth has seen its market capitalization reach $524 billion, recently surpassing Tencent to become one of China's most valuable companies. This surge is largely attributed to the massive demand for memory infrastructure required to support artificial intelligence workloads.

Major technology firms are navigating complex supply chain dynamics involving CXMT. Apple has reportedly been testing CXMT chips for use in iPhones and MacBooks to mitigate global DRAM shortages, though such moves face potential regulatory scrutiny in the US. Other manufacturers like Acer and ASUS have begun incorporating CXMT memory into products for specific markets, while companies like Dell have implemented restrictions on the Chinese components.
