Apple to begin Mac Mini production in Houston, Texas

Apple is expanding its domestic manufacturing footprint with a new Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston, Texas. The facility, which currently produces advanced AI servers, is scheduled to begin manufacturing Mac Mini desktops in the United States for the first time later this year.

The expansion follows a strategic model where Apple leverages supplier investments to increase capacity without bearing all construction costs. For example, Foxconn is responsible for a significant portion of the capital expenditures for the Houston assembly lines, while Apple commits to purchasing the resulting products. This approach mirrors existing partnerships with TSMC in Arizona and Corning in Kentucky.

This move is part of a broader commitment by Apple to invest $600 billion in the United States. CEO Tim Cook noted that the decision to increase domestic production helps address supply chain constraints and high demand for the Mac product line.
