Apple's MacBook Neo 2 slated for 2027 with A19 Pro chip

Apple is developing a second‑generation MacBook Neo, expected to debut in the first half of 2027. The notebook will replace the current A18 Pro processor with the A19 Pro chip, the same silicon used in the iPhone 17 Pro series. Benchmarks suggest a 10‑15% CPU uplift and up to 40% faster GPU performance, likely with a slightly reduced five‑core GPU variant to balance cost and power. Memory will increase from 8 GB to 12 GB of unified RAM, providing the headroom needed for on‑device AI features such as Apple Intelligence.

The design will remain largely unchanged – a 13‑inch aluminum chassis, IPS Retina display, Magic Keyboard and webcam – while new colour options are planned. Component shortages are expected to raise the retail price compared with the original Neo. The upgrade is part of a broader Apple hardware refresh that envisions up to eleven new Mac models over the next two years, including OLED‑screen MacBook Pro variants, updated iMacs, and Mac mini desktops moving to the M6 architecture. The MacBook Neo 2 will continue to target students, casual users and budget‑conscious buyers seeking a full‑macOS experience.
