Apple to debut AirPods Pro with AI‑enabled cameras by 2027

Apple is developing a new version of its AirPods Pro, also referred to as AirPods Ultra, that will embed miniature cameras. The cameras are not intended for classic photo or video capture; they will supply visual context to Siri, allowing object recognition, visual‑based reminders and more precise navigation assistance.

The earbuds will feature privacy safeguards such as an LED indicator that lights when the camera is active and on‑device processing of visual data to limit cloud transmission. After an initial spring rollout target was pushed back due to AI development challenges, the product is now expected to launch in late 2027, likely alongside iOS 27 and a redesigned iPhone model. Pricing is anticipated to be higher than the current AirPods Pro.
