Apple to end Intel Mac support with macOS 27

Apple is transitioning its Mac lineup to be exclusively compatible with Apple silicon. macOS 26 Tahoe serves as the final operating system release to support Intel processors, providing compatibility for select late-model Intel Macs from 2019 and 2020.

The successor operating system, macOS 27 Golden Gate, scheduled for release in September 2026, will be incompatible with all Intel-based Macs. This move marks the end of the Apple/Intel partnership for the Mac platform as the company focuses on its fifth-generation M-series chips.
