Apple to transition CEO role from Tim Cook to John Ternus

Apple is undergoing a major leadership transition as Tim Cook prepares to step down as CEO. On September 1, John Ternus, currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will take over the role. Cook will transition to the position of Executive Chairman, where he is expected to focus on global government and policy relations.

The leadership change coincides with a significant product cycle. Reports indicate that Apple is expected to unveil new flagship models in September, including the iPhone 18 Pro and a potential foldable device referred to as the iPhone Ultra.

Simultaneously, Apple is aggressively expanding its technological infrastructure. The company recently opened an Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston and has made strategic acquisitions to bolster its artificial intelligence capabilities, including Q.ai for machine learning and PlasmaSolve for chip manufacturing optimization. Furthermore, Apple is reportedly involved in a $10 billion AI laboratory partnership with Micron Technology and Nvidia.
