Apple to use iPhone 18 Pro for live MLB broadcasts

Apple is integrating the iPhone 18 Pro into live Major League Baseball (MLB) broadcasts to provide unique camera angles that traditional professional equipment may struggle to capture. During a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, approximately 14 iPhone 18 Pro units will be deployed alongside standard broadcast cameras.

The smartphones will be positioned in compact locations such as behind home plate, near the foul poles, and in the bullpens to capture close-up action, batting practice, and stadium atmosphere. This deployment marks an increase from the four iPhone 17 Pro units used in the previous year. Additionally, the event will utilize immersive video recording technology designed for viewing on Apple Vision Pro and other devices via the Apple TV app.
