Apple TV adds classic films to subscription library
Apple has expanded its Apple TV subscription library by adding a selection of classic films available to subscribers at no additional charge. These titles, which were previously available only through separate purchase or rental, are now accessible via a new section titled “Great Movies Available Now on Apple TV.”
In the United States, the updated selection includes films such as “Titanic,” “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” “The Martian,” “Arrival,” “I, Robot,” and “Gone Girl.” The selection varies by region; for instance, subscribers in the United Kingdom have access to titles including “Jurassic Park,” “Ford v Ferrari,” and “Rocketman.”
It remains unclear how long these films will be included in the subscription tier or if the list will continue to expand. This move represents an expansion of Apple TV’s content strategy, moving beyond its focus on original productions to include more licensed third-party content.
