Fleetwood Mac documentary ‘The Chain’ to premiere on Apple TV

Apple Original Films has announced an authorized documentary titled ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’, scheduled for global release on Apple TV on January 29, 2027. Directed by five-time Oscar nominee Frank Marshall, the film explores over fifty years of the band’s career, focusing on the iconic lineup that produced the multi-platinum album ‘Rumours’.

The production features new interviews and previously unseen archival footage from band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. The late Christine McVie will be represented through archival recordings to complete the perspective of the classic quintet.

The documentary’s title refers to the song ‘The Chain’, the only track on ‘Rumours’ credited to all five members. The film aims to examine how the group navigated intense personal conflicts and professional tensions to achieve massive commercial success, including the sale of over 220 million records. The release coincides with the upcoming 50th anniversary of the ‘Rumours’ album.
