Apple TV announces second season of French drama ‘Carême’
Apple TV has announced a second season of the French-language drama series ‘Carême’ following its International Emmy Award nomination for Best Drama Series. The production, directed by Martin Bourboulon, is scheduled to begin filming next week in Paris.
The series stars Benjamin Voisin as Antonin Carême, the world’s first celebrity chef, who rises from poverty in Paris to culinary stardom during the Napoleonic era. The plot follows Carême as his ambitions draw the attention of powerful politicians who attempt to use him as a spy for France. The show is based on the book ‘Cooking for Kings: The Life of Antonin Carême, The First Celebrity Chef’ by historian Ian Kelly.
Returning cast members for the new season include Jérémie Renier and Alice Da Luz. Filming will take place at various historic locations around Paris, including the Palais des Tuileries and Château de Fontainebleau.
