Apple TV expands catalog with classic films

Apple TV is shifting its content strategy by expanding its library with approximately 20 classic films, including titles such as ‘Titanic’, ‘E.T.’, and ‘Zodiac’. Previously, the platform focused heavily on high-budget original productions to build prestige and reputation.

This strategic move aims to improve subscriber retention and address the high costs associated with continuous original content production. By acquiring rights to well-known films, the service can offer a broader, more recognizable catalog more economically than producing new material.

Additionally, the platform continues to host highly-regarded original series, such as the science fiction drama ‘Severance’, the comedy ‘Shrinking’, and the Irish series ‘Bad Sisters’.
