Apple TV focuses on scripted content strategy
Apple TV is distinguishing itself in the streaming market by increasing its proportion of scripted content, a strategy that contrasts with competitors like Disney+ and HBO Max, which are expanding their unscripted and reality television catalogs to drive engagement and advertising revenue.
In addition to its strategic positioning, Apple TV has acquired international distribution rights for the British comedy series ‘Small Prophets’. Created, written, and directed by Mackenzie Crook, the six-episode series originally aired on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. The show follows Michael Sleep, a man attempting to find his missing girlfriend through an experimental alchemy process involving homunculcs.
Data from Ampere Analysis indicates that Apple TV’s premium focus is reflected in its top-performing titles. In the United States, ‘Ted Lasso’ remains a leading title with 3.3 million unique viewers, followed by the original film ‘Mayday’ and the series ‘Silo’ and ‘Dark Matter’.
